With a strong interest in public and digital engagement, I am a communications strategist, digital producer, and global marketer who specialises in turning complicated information into easy-to-understand content for target audiences. Among my supervisors and colleagues, I am known to be a deadline-driven writer and content manager with proven experience in developing social media marketing strategies. I thrive in a fast-paced setting, take initiative on new projects and can strategically promote an agenda. My portfolio includes created web content, directed promotional videos, managed digital assets, social media training, presentations, and webinars.
As a journalist, I reported for the News and Observer and its sister publications, Free Speech Radio News, VHI and MTV Radio Network. I have also contributed to CBS Radio News and have provided commentary for MSNBC. An audio feature series I produced won a Regional Edward R. Murrow award for “Best Use of Sound”.
My most recent work experience includes international travel to El Salvador, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Spain and The United Kingdom. I have a bachelor’s degree from Meredith College and a postgraduate certificate in documentary arts from the Center of Documentary Studies at Duke University. I recently earned a master’s degree in Science Communication and Public Engagement at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
